Learn the art of transforming simple spaces into beautiful representations of an individual’s dreams with this 2-year Master’s in Interior Design program at the AAFT School of Interior Design. SYLLABUS

Semester 1

  • Gaining a clear understanding of different elements of interior design.
  • Developing knowledge about different kinds of materials used in building construction.
  • Understanding the ergonomics, materials, design, and working parameters of designing furniture.
  • Gaining expertise in using architectural symbols.
  • Learning about the state laws with reference to residential accommodations.

Semester 2

  • Field visits to monuments and temples to study their architectural styles and learning to take inspiration from history for their designs.
  • Learning the science of Vaastu Shastra and how to apply it in interior designing.
  • Learning about arches, staircases, panels, partitions, etc., that are useful for technical and design knowledge.
  • Learning about the scientific ways of designing two types of furniture systems – for storage purposes and for sitting purposes.
  • Understand plotting, manipulation, variations in design by computer-aided designing.
  • Understanding state laws with reference to any commercial accommodations.

Semester 3

  • Tracing the history of architecture by analyzing the changes through various traditions, regions, overarching stylistic trends and furniture styles.
  • Understanding the critical requirements of an ideal functional space.
  • Understanding elevator technology
  • Gaining expertise in light intensity, type of lighting, and how they are different is for residential and commercial spaces.
  • Introduction to computer-aided 3D drafting to produce floor plans and elevations.
