ABOUT THE B.Des. (Honors) (Interior Design)
The B.Des. (Honors) (Interior Design) program is a 4-year integrated undergraduate degree that develops students into professional interior designers and spatial thinkers. The program builds design capability through advanced studio practice, material exploration, spatial planning, and critical design inquiry, enabling students to create functional, aesthetic, and human-centred interior environments. Students work in dedicated design studios, model-making labs, and digital visualization suites while engaging in live projects, site visits, and industry-led workshops. The program follows a 160-credit Honours pathway for advanced design specialization and professional readiness. The curriculum includes –
- Basic Design & Visual Arts, History of Interiors, and Building Materials & Construction Technology
- Room Space Design, Residential & Commercial Space Design, Furniture Design I & II, and Duplex/Villa/Hotel Lobby Design
- AutoCAD, Advance AutoCAD, SketchUp, Design Execution Drawing, Estimate & Costing, and Digital Fabrication & Prototyping
- Vastu, Interior Materials, Building Services, Energy Efficient Interiors, Sustainable Interiors, Vernacular Interiors, and Interior Landscape
- Research Methodology, Project Management, Experiential Interior Design, and Dissertation (for Research track)

Assessments
The B.Des. (Honors) (Interior Design) program at AAFT follows a comprehensive assessment system to evaluate students’ creative, technical, and professional competencies throughout the course. A balanced mix of formative and summative assessments ensures continuous learning and skill development. Students are assessed through design portfolios, concept boards, mood boards, and sketches that demonstrate conceptualisation and execution abilities. Presentations and viva sessions evaluate communication, client interaction, and problem-solving skills, while site visit reports, industry project submissions, and market survey analyses assess professional readiness and applied understanding.
