M.A Cinema

M.A. in Cinema Course is a  two years Full time Programme. 

The objective of the M.A. Cinema program is to:

  1. To prepare students in the production aspects of Film Television & New Media, as required by the present media environment all across globe.
  2. To empower the students in  the  production  &  managerial  aspects  of  the  media  business  with  due emphasis on latest production techniques, along with marketing and branding management of various media products and associated services.
  3. To develop creative temperament and mindset needed in the content production segment of media industry.
  4. To inculcate competencies thereby enabling to undertake professional work.
  5. To provide an active industry interface by way of co‐learning.

As a part of the bachelor cinema degree as well as the PG degree, students get to work on different motion picture formats. SYLLABUS

Semester 1

  • Introduction to filmmaking.
  • Understanding primitive, early cinema and enhancing the basic knowledge of films.
  • Introduction to still photography and design technology.
  • Understand different types of acting and presentation skills for becoming an actor or for directing or dealing with the actors.

Semester 2

  • Use and significance of Moving Camera and suitable Lighting. 
  • Understand the significance of Video Editing and Sound Editing and also Sound Recording.
  • Advance the students with the core subject of Films, teaching them about the establishment and survival of cinema- both International and Indian Cinema will be focused. 
  • How to write a screenplay for films (short & feature films) & television at a fundamental level etc.

Semester 3

  • To prepare the students to individually direct and produce three production exercises- Mise-en- scene, continuity, and dialogue in a team with other class mates. 
  • Understand how to use different elements like movements, camera, lighting, make-up, sets, props etc. in the composition of a frame or shot. 
  • To teach them about the marketing strategies for their product- films.

Semester 4

  • To make the students aware as how to produce and direct a short film.
  • To teach the students an important aspect of this field i.e. Media ethics and different laws to be followed being in this industry. 
  • To prepare the students to write and make a research based thesis on some relevant area and contemporary topic.
