Assessments
The B.Des (Honors / Honors with Research) program’s assessment system is designed to gauge students’ theoretical knowledge, technical competency, creativity and preparedness for the workforce. It follows a balanced blend for Continuous Internal Assessment (CIA) and End Semester Examination (ESE) to ensure consistent learning and skill development.
CIA includes class participation, assignments, practical exercises, mid-term tests, portfolio reviews and viva voce examinations. Regular feedback sessions and critiques throughout the semester help refine their work and encourage progressive improvement. ESE comprises theory exams, practical demonstrations, studio evaluations and juries that test cumulative knowledge. Theory papers assess conceptual clarity and critical thinking, while practicals require students to complete garment fabrication, pattern development, draping tasks or digital design within set timelines.
